Off to dinner I shall be at 6:30ish! Huzzah!

Invited my suitemates (what a strange word, eh?) out with me to grab a bite to eat. Fred's the cool one out of the four of us, and he went off to do... cool things. Me, I'm here for nerdiness! Yee-haw!

It's pretty cool though, because Greg's into strategy games and Dan's into sports. They're essentially like two large chunks of my personality that have been chipped from my gloriousness. Bwaha! But enough about comparing my suitemates to me!

I'm thinking that I'm probably going to be quite hungry tonight. I didn't have much to eat earlier today and all that. Feeding oneself is -hard- let me tell you. You tend to forget to eat, then you put it off. One of the reasons I'm very glad my suitemates are still around for me to invite. They don't give me the impression that they have anywhere else to be at all--Dan watches TV and Greg plays on the computer--but for some reason I can never seem to catch them. Then again, we all have our initial acquaintances with whom we try hanging out so we'll have somewhere to be.

College sure is crazy that way. It'll be good though. Friends definitely don't happen immediately, especially for someone like me, but the cool thing is that they -do- happen.

Oh, and I got some good writing in today while missing the Freshman Convocation. Supposedly it was a required event, but I refused to go to it and screw up my story, which was coming out of my mind like it was on fire.

Of course, reading it back to myself, it looks a lot less impressive, but it's now on the internet for selected portions of the world to see. You may see it and the one before it if it meets your personal persuasions. Have a feeling it ain't happenin', but there's always a chance. If you find the stories, just remember that they're written by a writer who's still trying very hard to mature his style. And stuff.

Yeah, I need to work on that mature thing.

But this blog definitely helps that. Which is quite nice. ^.^

I mean, come on. Who -doesn't- love killing two birds with one stone? That's right, bitch.

I can only hope that I don't stop posting to this when school starts (tomorrow). It'll be tough to do it so regularly, but then again, I should be able to manage -something-.

So with that bit of bland drivel, I bid you adieu! Adieu!

Hasta la byebye.

I say yay for roommate contacts!

That's right! Yay!

Well, Fred, Dan, Greg and me successfully hammered out an agreement, though I believe Greg wanted more hardcore rules (if illegal substances are found, we are required to immediately notify our Community Facilitator). I felt quite satisfied by the whole bit. Even if I had shitty handwriting.

So anyways, here I am. Classes start on Wednesday.

Had dinner with Fred and three ladies he'd met. He's turning out to be a good roommate, but I don't think we'll actually be friends per se. We respect each other and like each other well enough, but we don't quite have enough in common to want to hang out with each other too much. Which is actually quite fine--definitely far better than having a loathsome, terrible roommate.

Sadly enough I don't have too much more to write. I did get some good writing done on places that aren't Blogger. I'm quite proud of myself, really. The question, however, remains regarding whether or not I'll be able to continue on. Creative exertion's great, but I sort of need to study when classes start.

I'm surrendering more and more to the idea that I won't be able to stay in Spanish. Which is a pity, because it's a great language, which I really ought to study. Perhaps next semester I'll be able to do something like refuse my AP test scores for Spanish Language. I just hope I don't have to refuse them all when I do that.

I hope you fellows (all three of you) that read this blog are doing fine in whichever location you may or may not call home. Me, I'm just basking in the glory of the 22 or 23 books I bought so far (I need at least two more). Who says $450 is a lot of money? Not me!

Hasta la byebye. You asshats.

I finally have my keyboard working--you know, the one I stole from my old house and brought here so that I could type with ergonomically correct ease.

My mom leaves today for Katy. I was surprised at how composed she was when we said our last goodbyes; her eyes were fluttering with tears, but her voice remained somewhat steady and she didn't go into any weeping, which I really appreciated. I mean, the whole time we were here, she made references to how much she was going to cry.

And of course, I'm all right with people crying, but even so, it's extremely awkward to have to deal with someone crying on your shoulder. I'm glad I didn't have to have practical experience with that.

I have to say though, that I'm afraid.

I came back from hanging out with a fellow I met at my orientation, one of his friends, and one of her friends. When they started talking about hookas and partying and stuff, I knew I wasn't with quite the right people. The fellow that I met at orientation--his name is Noah, for the record--was actually pretty cool, but the other two (especially the female) were the sort of people I avoided at all costs.

I made an excuse to leave and did so, walking the six blocks back to my residence hall, and stopping to grab a piece of pizza on the way. It was the first meal I had to pay for at college. $2.52. I hate DC prices; they make me think that $2.52 for a slice of pizza is a good deal. Bastards.

But anyways, as I was saying, I'm afraid. GW kids have a reputation for being snooty assholes like the ones I was just hanging out with.

I think I need to meet people who play poker. It's entirely possible that Fred, Greg, and Dan (the last two being my "suitemates") play, but I just have a feeling that they don't. I -am- with the Nerd Herd, however, so there's got to be some people who do.

And yes! I call the honors kids the Nerd Herd! I, as many people know, love to refer to myself as a nerd. Adding "herd"--a term often used with goats--to it makes it so much cooler.

Anyways, I'm going to get to writing some hot raunchy pr0n. Because I can.

I have a short announcement:

Hasta la Byebye is officially the #1 search result for "Cantay" at google.com.

I would like to thank everyone that has made this possible, even if they didn't know they were doing it. I would also like to gloat, because come on! How many other people can claim that their webpage is the #1 result on any search engine for their own first name? Does Eric's page come up when I search Eric? John's when I search John? Fred's when I search Fred?

Damn straight.

Dude. Fred's here. And I didn't once call him Frederick, can you believe it?

Perhaps it's because he's so un-Fred-like that I am simply stupefied. He's very cool though, and Eric would be very happy to hear that the first band he named when I asked what bands he liked was The Flaming Lips.

At this moment he and his dad are going down to get the car and the stuff inside said car so they can bring it up to the room. It'll be nice to have him around instead of always having to wonder when he'd be coming and such. And he seems like he might make a very good roommate. Now all he has to do is accept the religion of Goat and we're all set. ^.^

Before Fred came, though, I took a Spanish placement exam and did well enough to warrant my being examined with a written and oral test. Well, I -barely- did well enough to warrant being examined. The cutoff score to be interviewed was 440, and I got a 480. The maximum possible was probably around 650 or 700 (some native speaker got something like a 637). My writing went ok, but my interview was terrible. I kept mixing up Turkish and Spanish in my head, and stuttered to the brink of doom.

Thankfully, Senora Spear, the professor interviewing me, was very nice. She said that I actually did all right and that I should go into Spanish 9 (which translates into fifth semester Spanish).

And then I remembered something an advisor at the Honors Office told me, and I told her I got a 5 on the Spanish AP exam. Well that killed everything.

You see, with a 5, you automatically get credit for Spanish 9 and 10 and everything below it is blocked from being taken. This meant that the lowest course I could take was Spanish 30, which is a literature course for advanced speakers. I actually expected to hear that, but what I needed now was a solution.

Well, now I'm in Spanish 108. It's a class designed for advanced-level speakers who need to fine tune grammar and such things. If I cling tight, I might be able to make it. If I don't, there's always the chance that I'll just bomb the diagnostic test they give early on which tells whether or not we should stay in the class.

Really, I should be all right, but I can't help but be anxious about it.

I also need to purchase an English-Spanish dictionary.

I've got a tough load of classes, though, now that I think about it. Here's their course numbers:

HONR 15 (my honors proseminar which deals mostly with ancient Greek literature), HONR 43 (microeconomics), HONR 45 (an introduction to comparative politics), REL 161 (a study of Islam), SPAN 108 (death in a can).

HONR means it's an honors course, and a number above 100 means it was designed for juniors and seniors. I'd like to compare my schedule to anyone else's and see what those bitches are complaining about when they say their schedule's tough.

What's nice about this schedule, though, is that the earliest class I have on any day is at 9:35, and that's only on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Monday, my first class doesn't start till 2:2o. I was, in general, probably the luckiest fellow at GW's makeup CI as far as my schedule is concerned.

So this bland edition of Hasta la Byebye is through. Yep.

Hasta la byebye.

"I'm such an asshole and a fuckass. I like to go to people's blogs and leave comments like 'indeed' and 'indeed indeed'. It's so KICKASS!" --Eric, on commenting.

Well, I assume it would be. I couldn't -actually- reach him to get a comment when I tried calling just now at the number he left on John's blog (he can leave entire phone numbers there, but he's limited to one word here... shame). But I say fie! Fie and fo! -And- fum!

Yep. I'm doing great. Still with my aunt.

Saw my room yesterday though. As kickass as I thought it would be, except for the fact that it's actually a four-person deal. Very similar to John's situation; two separate rooms that each house two of us. There's no living area though, sadly enough. We -do- have a walk-in closet and a large room that houses our microwaves and fridges, however. So I say w00t!

Fred will be in town on the 26th or 27th or 28th. Damn. I wish I could remember. I -did- manage to talk to him though. We agree on nothing. First off, he believes the word "crossroads" is superior to "intersection" and... well, that's it. But we agree on NOTHING. I guess I'll have to destroy him. Pity.

But on a happier note, I will soon have a room all to myself! All I have to do is destroy Fred!

...When Fred gets the URL to this blog and thumbs through the excellent archives and finds this post and is not dead, he will likely castrate me or something. Or mention that I thought he would castrate me, then simply remove my spleen.

Either way, things aren't shaping up too well. Looks like I'll have to destroy Fred.

My keyboard's gone. My room is emptying. I can't quite do anything even vaguely productive.

I must be moving away.

Tomorrow. I don't even know when my flight leaves exactly, but I'll be leaving on that jet plane, heading to DC via Atlanta thanks to the friendly folks at Delta Airlines. I believe that "yay" simply does not express my supreme elation well enough.

What's more, I haven't been able to bury anything even remotely hatchet-related. This has made me quite sad. I think I'll try to bury a pen later tonight. They're sharp and pointy, right? They can do some of the jobs hatchets can do, right?

I wrote a haiku about leaving, and I think I'm going to share it with you.

Eating chicken, bitch!
Hell if I'm gonna help you!
I don't wanna pack!

Pretty awesome, huh? I think I'm going to submit it to the next poetry contest I find, cause quite frankly, it's going to make me some skrilla. Copyright protections apply, and I'm scouring the winning entries in poetry contests across the globe, so if you enter this thing, I will know, and I will have your ass on a plate.

You know what? In my eternal awesomeness, I was inspired to write another haiku! This one's about goats.

Bah ram ewe? Say what?
Sheep are better than goats? Nah...
Goats are teh 1337, n00b.

You remember what I said about the last bit of beautiful poetry? Good. Same applies for this, except I will also remove at least one testicle for this one. If you're a woman, I'll remove a testicle of your nearest male relative. No one messes with goats.

The Muses gave me creative light to yet -another- haiku just a second ago! This one is about my hot sweet rage.

I'll boil your spleen
And tear out your intestines
And chew your eyeballs.

Same rules apply, bitches! Except for this one, if you violate dear copyright law, I will be forced to gnaw on your lungs until you begin coughing up blood, at which point I will let them become infected as they are exposed to open air. I will then give you antibiotics so that the infection is almost stopped, but then will cut the dosage and allow the infection to come back and destroy your pathetic body.

I hope college is 1337. I should call Fred(erick).

Hasta la byebye.

Hello fellows.

Yep. Day's over, and I lost $4. But it was a good $4. To lose.

I'll miss these fuckers, I will. Miss them halfway to my death.

So on a happier note, this laptop is very nice. For those of you who don't know, his name is Yildirim, which means thunderbolt. The name would sound corny in English, but in Turkish, it's poetic, and Yildirim's just the type of machine that deserves a powerful, poetic name. As far as laptops go, he's huge, but that's how I like them. Big.

He's also got a widescreen monitor and a 128 MB video card that will ease my eyes a bit more than otherwise. And don't forget that he's got his name. He would be nothing if he were Charlie, but as Yildirim, he's grand! (Some might say he's massive.)

Can't you tell that I'm trying not to think about the fact that I won't see anybody for a few months? Well, I think I'm making too big a fucking deal about it, dammit. It's a few months. Without my friends and family units.

What am I saying? It -is- a big deal.

But it does no good to whine, yes?

High School, as Eric more or less put it, has been cancelled, and we're now moving on to the spinoff show called College. Maybe the drama involved in my being far, far away will make good episode fodder, but I'm sure the writers already overused that angle with Sarosh. Speaking of which, I wonder how she's doing...

That does help put things into perspective. Remembering that Sarosh had to do this whole thing before any of us did, and that she had to go farther. She can't even visit us to celebrate solstices and freedom. I salute you, Sarosh. Yours is easily the harder draw.

Ah, and now a very welcome feeling. Now I want to leave. Sure, the main reason may be that I want this foolishness to end; I want to live my life and stop complaining about the life I'm leaving behind.

It's sad to think that I may grow apart from John and Eric (with whom I am the closest). They say the friends you make in college become so much more important to you; that they bond with you much tighter than any other friends you'll make. I guess it would be cool to have friends that are better than John and Eric, but... well, I like John and Eric, dammit.

Oh well. We'll remain friends. Just how close?

Think on that, because I will. Hasta la byebye.

Friday, August 20, 2004

The links don't work. Well, I should say the links don't exist. I kept saying to myself I'd post again when I could fix them, but I can't in the extremely near future, so I'm posting now.

My life has changed so much. So God damned much.

::Sigh:: But there's little to be done for it. There is little to cling to but nostalgia. I'm leaving for Austin on Saturday, along with many people I know. Eric and John are leaving for Lubbock and San Antonio (respectively) the same day. Travis is gone already.

I'll be back here in Katy on Sunday or Monday, giving my last hoo-rah all by myself. I think I might plan some sort of ceremony for which I will be the only attendee. Perhaps I will bury a knife and call it a hatchet, kiss the earth, and walk away, feeling strangely satisfied for no logical reason. I think I'd like to do that. Somehow it might make things easier for this young Turk.

I mean, it's not easy. My life as I know it is over, and I'm not as excited for this as so many others at Cinco Ranch High were. I wish I could stay for a little longer and get tired of Katy. I don't want to -miss- it. I don't want to miss my parents and sisters. I don't want to live life as an adult; not yet.

I think if I had another couple of months, I'd be ready. I think I'd start to get tired of waiting for this whole "college" thing to come about and become impatient. That's how I want to leave; without regret.

Sadly, what will be happening is the best thing that could possibly happen given the options laid out before me--which are, realistically, go to college or stay at home.

I think I'll love college. Love it to death. I don't think I'm going to want to leave.

I just wish I could have more time here with everyone else before I had to start on that. When college is through, I'll have work to look forward to and my youth to look back on. Jesus I wish I had more youth.

So that's what I am here about, writing in short and distended paragraphs. Writing as the clock nears to 4 AM and I start to worry about waking up tomorrow. Because tomorrow, gentlemen, is our last day together. It will begin when I wake up, and it will end when I sleep.

And the poor Ansteorrans don't even get mentioned. Sorry guys.

Hasta la bloody byebye.

Coming to you live! From John's house! Trying desperately to break my streak of non-posting!

Fuck off, you whores!

(Also, I bought a laptop. It's pretty sweet. Next post will come from that! Until then! I will see you! When I am richer! From poker! That we are playing! Tonight! Bitches!)

(Hasta la byebye! And hey Mistah Li!)
