I'm glad to see that people are still (at least occasionally) reading my blog. ^.^

But I have to say, it's quite hard to post for me sometimes. And by sometimes, I mean when I get into a funk of not posting. Somehow I want to stay away when I do that, and simply not come back. At all.

I do that with too many things--either I do them frequently or I stay away from them for quite a long time.

Which leads me to say... I'm on a fucking binge of The Strokes. Jesus. I've listened to Is This It about fifty times through since I've gotten here. And I've decided it's infinitely better than Room on Fire (except for Reptilia, which is still my favorite song). I guess part of my preference is that every song doesn't sound like every other song. Go figure. Anyways, now I want The Strokes (and The Darkness, of course) to make more music. Now.

Of course, for all I know, both bands have come out with new records. I'm so out of the loop without Eric to jump on my back and scream, "OMGOMGOMG TEH STORKS HVAE A NEW BALUM!!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!"

I miss Eric doing that to me. No wait. No I don't.

Anyways, I have to read Euripedes's "Medea" for my Proseminar tomorrow. It's definitely easier reading than The Odyssey and shorter than Sophocles's Oedipan trilogy, which we've had to read already. So I'm not worried. Also, we received a short presentation of it in our Academic Decathlon class, so I sort of remember that people died and stuff.

I think I need to play poker, though. Or board games. Lots of board games. I played LOTR Risk on Sunday night with three friends (two of whom were my suitemates and the other of whom was a fellow who I play soccer with who is also a Turkophile), but I need more. Especially since I lost. Well, I sort of lost. The Turkophile had the most commanding position, and one of my suitemates was near death. My other suitemate and I were both in pretty unpleasant straits, but we weren't doing -poorly-. It was cool though--I made like two or three comebacks in that game after I'd been more or less crippled beyond any hope of victory. It was, needless to say, a very long game. Eventually we just fucked it and went to Friday's with these females that desperately wanted to go to Friday's.

I got a fucking salad. I'm so ashamed of myself. At least I ate some of everyone else's food that they couldn't finish. Damn non-Texans and their puny appetites.

So anyways, I'd now like to mention soccer. I play intramural, of course; I've never actually played in a league, so anything more would be simply inconceivable. Anyways, we won our first game about two weeks ago. That was a huge confidence boost for our team, which is made up mostly of free agents and never practices (ever). I had the honor of playing the most minutes in that game. But then, I was also the goalie--the only goalie on the team that -liked- to play goalie, in fact. And I wasn't terrible. We won 14-7.

Unfortunately, we lost the next two games, 12-11 and 11-4. That last one was really embarrassing, but I can simply shirk all responsibility cause they pulled me from the goalie position when we fell behind in both games. I can't imagine for the life of me why. (Actually the team is co-ed and you can have either three males and two females or three females and two males on the field, including the goalie--when we decided we needed offense, I got yanked so we could get three guys up front. Damn sexism. Then again, our girls really suck.)

So anyways, we need to win our next two games to make the playoffs. We can do it, actually. We just sort of have to actually do it. Which means, as one of my teammates said, we need to be more spirited early in the game. And I need to yell more. Done and done.

And that's all for now, folks. Hasta la byebye.

Hello everyone. I'm blogging from the hospital. I managed somehow to fall down the lovely stairs that we have here, from about the middle of the fifth floor to the bottom of the fourth.

I broke my right collarbone, my left fibula (in something like seven places), and I managed to twist in such a way that my spleen dislocated itself and began to bleed internally.

Other than the residual after-effects of having that stuff starting to mend, though, I'm fine. Just sort of... broken. Did I mention that I won $15 in poker? That's right, bitches. I'm in the black.

Except for the hospital bill.

It's pretty cool, though. I'm not having to attend classes. Well. Actually, that's pretty uncool since that's what I'm here for. I was able to talk to the dean of freshmen, and he told me that because the incident happened early in the semester, I could withdraw from all classes without penalty. I think I'll probably end up doing that since it'll be at least a week or two before I'll be able to properly move myself in the general direction of a class.

Hospital food's all right though. And it's cheaper than what they have on J Street.

And you know what else kicks ass? I had an article written about me in the school newspaper. It hasn't been published yet, but I got interviewed and it was all sorts of great fun. I believe the article is going to tackle the issue of those damn dangerous vertigo stairs.

Anyways, I'd better run now. My leg's starting to act up and I need some good old fashioned analgesic intravenous fluid.

Oh, and one more thing. This is a hoax. Had you goin', didn't I, bitches?

Hasta la byebye.

Holy shaz! They finally fixed the internet!

Two fellows just came by asking if I was interested in a game of Texas Hold'em. They will return when they've found more folks who are interested.

On a related note, I hereby renounce my agnosticism and proclaim my unwavering theism! O, sweet mercy, there is a God!

Well, that might be taking things a bit too far, but I feel so.... unbelievably happy that I can play poker again. Man. It feels so God damned good (sorry God). Hmm. Maybe on second thought I'll go back to agnosticism (sorry God); I like being able to take the almighty's name in vain without worrying about consequences.

Oh, and by the way. There are other things you may be interested in.

My classes are pretty kickass. Well, they're all kickass except for French, which I haven't taken yet. And now you're wondering exactly what I mean. Well, as many of you know, I was quite disillusioned with Spanish, so I decided I'd try my hand at Russian... which didn't work out too well either (well, actually, it worked out pretty nicely, but I really wanted to take French instead--learning Cyrillic just isn't as easy as not having to learn jack shit).

So now I'm in French! I'll have my first session of that tomorrow. Yay!

Also, I believe I will publish the following now; it's momentous:

I am considering a transfer to UT or Texas Tech.

Why? Well, for multiple reasons, I've suddenly determined that a career involved in taking over the world may not be the best thing for me. While GW is really cool, it also costs a hell of a lot of money and wouldn't be particularly worthwhile (in my opinion) if I'm anything but an International Affairs major.

It's a pity, really, that I don't know exactly where my life is headed, but I do think that it's definitely a lot better to be determining such now rather than when I'm 38.

Now, of course, there is the possibility that my feelings are simply brought about by homesickness and such, but I haven't really experienced any other symptoms aside from really missing the non-microwaved food. It's also possible that this is me flitting about with my crazy adolescent flittiness. I don't know really; I just know that I'm seriously considering a transfer at the end of my freshman year.

...What would the parental units say, I wonder? On that thought, hasta la byebye folks.

You know the best part about college? Buying six books you don't need and being unable to transfer into Russian on the same day!

Thankfully, those two things can be remedied rather easily.

Today was the first day of classes. I only had two, and those two were Comparative Politics and Spanish. The professor for Comparative Politics seems pretty interesting. He's a Syrian by the name of Murhaf Jouejati. Try saying that three times fast. Well, actually it's doable. But still, pretty crazy, yes?

Right now there's a small problem with books and such things in that class, so I'm not entirely certain what I'm supposed to be doing exactly. Aside from reading. And stuff. I need to try getting to work or something.

In Spanish, I felt a bit overwhelmed. Not as much as I was afraid I would be, but still quite overwhelmed. I actually decided I wanted to transfer into Russian, but by the time I finally figured I should do it, online registration suddenly closed. I can only hope it will be back up tomorrow, cause otherwise I'll have to go through the annoying process of heading over to the Russian class with an add/drop form.

I love add/drop forms! Yay!

No wait. You could detect the sarcasm couldn't you? Damn.

Oh well. I'm feeling somewhat tired strangely enough. But perhaps this will serve as a lesson to all of you not to wait too long when you want to transfer into Russian (I was considering French, you see, but no good sections of that would open up for me).

More on this and other things later! For tomorrow it's my Proseminar and Islam! W00t! Oh yeah--hasta la byebye.
