I suspect 2025 will be ugly for the world
But hopefully it won't be ugly for me personally.
I don't like new year's resolutions, but I do generally like the idea of creating "themed" blocks of time, kinda like CGP Grey's method. My theme for the next 30 days will be to prioritize certain aspects of self-care, namely:
1) Sleep (always get 8 hours of rack time in darkness unless there is a specific reason I can't)
2) Wakeful rest/meditation (sometimes do not default to mindless video gaming/televisioning during my downtime)
3) Exercise (sometimes use the stationary bike Ielly just set up downstairs)
Especially of late, I find that everything feels so much worse if I don't get enough sleep. I might be able to function pretty well in many aspects, and even get some sort of adrenaline-y performance boost the first morning I'm sleep-deprived, but life itself becomes less good, especially after multiple days. And I worry about my poor brain.
These are all small, incremental changes. The "sometimes" bar for success is really low on #2 & #3. But sometimes you just need a win, and #1 is going to be plenty challenging on its own.
Here's hoping future-me looks back on this with a winking fingergun. Hi future me! Hope you still have hair!
