I hate to admit it, but Vanilla Sky is one of my favorite movies. Brilliantly written and directed by Cameron Crowe, who is also responsible for Almost Famous. The soundtrack sets the table and sounds awesome just like a soundtrack should--this was partly achieved by using half of the songs Radiohead released from 1995 - 2001. Everyone except Penelope Cruz is perfectly awkward. It's great. I don't even care that Tom Cruise is the fucking star. Hell, I think Tom Cruise is a much better actor than everyone thinks even though he's an massive douche.
(Quick edit: I've known for a while that this film was based on (or copied from) a Spanish-language film from 1997, which everyone says is better. Perhaps so. Someday I hope to see it. Nevertheless, Vanilla Sky is a fine, fine bit o' work.)
