At-ten-TION!

Yeah, I'm not in the military, but I always want to say that. That or the shortened form, ten-hut. In fact, I have said it several times, but it's always inappropriate and indifferently received. I just want someone to snap straight turn around and salute. Just once. Then they can do it back to me and I'll salute. Like a game you play when you're six.

Not sure why I have such a fondness for military roleplaying. I think it might have something to do with the three or four years of roleplaying a doctor in Starfleet (from Star Trek). I ingrained in myself then that I was a lieutenant aboard whichever ship I happened to be on, and that I was a badass that could heal and kill. Like, really well. There's also the whole Battlestar Galactica thing, which is much more adult and sans the roleplaying, but still generally the same idea.

So I guess the question must be asked: why sci-fi military? Why not something awesome and historicalish like M*A*S*H? Or Band of Brothers? I guess I'm just a huge nerd.
